Eight people are dead following two shootings at shisha bars in the western German city of Hanau.
Reports of the shooting come just days after one person was shot dead and four more were injured outside a Berlin music venue.
At least five people have also been injured following the incidents in Hanau, east of Frankfurt.
Police say the shootings took place at about 10pm on Wednesday evening.
A dark vehicle was seen leaving the scene. Soon afterwards, shots were fired at a second shisha bar – the Arena Bar & Café in Kurt-Schumacher-Platzin the western Kesselstadt district.
Police added that they are searching for the suspects, who fled the scene and are currently at large.
The first shooting was at a bar in the city centre, while the second was in Hanau's Kesselstadt neighbourhood, according to local reports.
Police officers and helicopters are patrolling both areas.
An unknown number of gunmen killed three people at the first shisha bar, before driving to the second and shooting dead another five victims.
The motive for the attack is unclear, a police statement said.
The area is sealed off and the investigation has begun.
Hanau, which sits in southwestern Germany, about 20 km (12 miles) east of Frankfurt, has a population of about 100,000.
